A core problem for distributed systems is efficient location of the nodes which store desired data items. This paper presents a consistent hashing-based catalog service engine, which can map keys onto the nodes in an identifier ring with load balance, and the improved algorithm is given to speed the key location. Utilizing this model with data summary can process queries for XML repositories efficiently. Results from simulation experiment show that our approach is valid and can scale to thousands of data sources.
