The aim of this article is to pave way for a rough set based calculus of approximate judgment by socio-cognitive agents. As the major basis of judgment is matching, we examine two general kinds of matching within the framework of Skowron - Stepaniuk?s approximation spaces: whether or not, and to which extent a particular matches an ideal and whether or not, and to which extent two universals match each other. We define several forms of rough judgment concerning the following aspects: satisfiability of formulas and sets of formulas, applicability and validity of rules, and results of rule application.
