Abstract
In the debate over whether to follow Representational State Transfer (REST) or a service-oriented architecture (SOA), the middle ground can show the way. Vinoski argues that, even if you believe SOA is exactly the right approach for the applications you develop, truly understanding REST can help you build distributed systems that scale and perform better.
