Abstract
Drawing on ethnographic studies of laptop use in Silicon Valley, at MIT, and in New York City, the author argues that no matter how good technology is, we'll still favor the particular physical places that meet our work needs. Rather than becoming more mobile, we'll depend increasingly on constant connectivity to a broader network.
