Abstract

In this paper, SA is introduced for color halftoning. It is Important for applying SA to select the procedure and the cost function appropriately for optimal solution to be obtained. Halftoning with SA for gray-scale image is extended for the color images. In the color halftoning, the cost related to the image contrast is neglected. The color is defined as a three dimensional vector in RGB space. The angle between the actual color vector and the quantized color vector is introduced for calculating the cost. Both the color image and gray scale image are considered for halftoning. When the input image is a color image, the reconstructed image with superior color reproduction has been obtained. The halftoning of gray scale image also is performed with the same quantization method taking it as a color image. It is seen that the colors other than the black and the white do not appear in the reconstructed image.
