Abstract

Providing multimedia service is particularly challenging in wireless networks such as high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) system for the fading properties of its radio links. In this paper, a generalized scheduling algorithm is presented, which allows controlling over user fairness as well as balancing fairness-throughput trade-off. Furthermore, we show that the generalized algorithm can well support minimum data rate for services requiring minimum rate guarantee, which is important in providing QoS for multimedia services over HSDPA. System level simulations are carried out to investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show that the algorithm achieves what have been expected in various environments.
