Abstract

With the energy reform and the development of power electronics technology, the trend of high proportion of new energy and high proportion of electronic and electronic equipment (double high) in the power system is obvious, which brings new power system stability problems. The power system stabilizer(PSS) is a basic method to enhance low frequency oscillation damping. Type PSS2, which is widely used in the current system, is effective in the typical low frequency oscillation mode (0.1 2.0Hz), but it can't damp effectively in the ultra-low frequency oscillation (below 0.1Hz) in the AC/DC hybrid power systems. This paper presents a new type of PSS structure - the two branch parallel PSS. The new type of PSS not only inherits the advantages of the PSS with single active power increment input, but also can provide damping in the ultra low frequency oscillation. It has less impact of reverse action and simple parameter setting. This paper introduces the parameter setting and verifies it in the simulation system of PSASP, and proves that it works well.
