Abstract

Modern people are concerned with healthy eating habits; however, sustaining these habits often requires vigilant self-monitoring and strong will. In a related work, a social media system was proposed that enables people to begin eating naturally meals without conscious effort. The system used the concept of expectation assimilation, that is, it converted others' evaluations of healthfulness into those of taste. Factors affecting meal satisfaction, however, likely differ depending on the person. In this study, we propose a feedback manipulation method based on users' individual tastes for meals and try to improve the user's eating habits more efficiently. We extended the system used in the related work conforming in accordance with our proposal, and conducted a user study with the system. We demonstrated an advantage of our method in improving eating habits.
