Abstract
With the advancement of Internet technologies and the widespread use of mobile devices, the number of users in conferencing services is increasing quickly. A P2PSIP conferencing system and an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) conferencing system have been designed to provide conferencing services. The IMS conferencing system was developed to adapt to a server-based centralized system, while the P2P network, with its many benefits, has achieved success in providing P2P conferencing services (e.g. the world-wide P2P VoIP network Skype). Each system only provides its own users conferencing services. Therefore, in this paper, we propose an architecture for interworking a conferencing service using P2P overlays and IMS networks. We also illustrate the procedures and detail the functions of each component in the architecture. Finally, we analyze the performance of the first conferencing scenario - IMS UA Invite P2P Peer to IMS conferencing service by using a REFER message.
