Abstract
One of the major obstacles for military use of commercially available off-the-shelf Internet of Things devices and platforms are security concerns. In this paper we present a case study of how the readily available IoT components could be combined into a secure and low-cost sensing system, which could be used for various military applications, such as smart military base operations or logistic chain monitoring. We aim at providing end-to-end security between a deployed sensor gateway and a user. Our solution is aligned with data-centric security concept of future military operations, which is currently under development at NATO.
